About the TIE Europe

The Telemedicine Information Exchange (TIE) Europe is a Web-based resource for telemedicine and e-health activities both in the UK and Europe. It is a non-profit organisation aiming to become;

TIE Europe is based on, and collaborates with, the TIE US site which has been providing comprehensive telemedicine information since 1995 and is widely regarded as the single most comprehensive on-line resource for telemedicine information for healthcare professionals, researchers, government agency staff and the general public.

IE Europe shares the policies of the TIE, with regard to accessibility, permissions, and selection criteria for the Bibliographic Database.

TIE Europe will reflect the diversity of telemedicine and e-health developments across the UK & Europe, it will include links to UK government, EU planning and policy documents in addition to review papers, evaluations, model clinical and business cases, and project implementation documents (PIDS), which have been successfully employed on previous projects.

At TIE we firmly believe in working in partnership with individual communities, whether in health, government, industry, vendors, academia or the general public. To reflect this, information is centred on specific 'ologies' such as nursing, dermatology, radiology, psychiatry and home health for example. TIE Europe will also develop and implement a research arm, focused on undertaking primary research in the e-health arena, adding to current knowledge and information.

Toolkits: An additional unique feature is 'Toolkits'. These 'How to do it' Guides will feature for all our 'ologies' or clinical specialities and their primary aim is to assist managers and practitioners in developing and implementing e-health services. The Toolkits will provide a straight-forward guide to all perspectives of an e-health service that should be considered for example, pressures for change, evidence for and against models of care, draft SOPs and lessons learnt. We hope that this will be a very valuable resource.
